Kate Kennedy - International Women's day

#beboldforchange

International Women’s Day celebrates the immense achievements of women and challenges us to reflect on themes such as diversity, gender parity and the role we can all play in creating a more inclusive world.

I’ve had the honour of collaborating and working with many talented and trailblazing women. When thinking about someone who’s worked tirelessly to advance other women, and best embodies the sentiment of #beboldforchange, it’s Kate Kennedy.

Kate has devoted her entire career to the community and is tenacious in her pursuit of a more just life for women, especially those who have experienced trauma such as rape, trafficking and slavery. Millions of women worldwide have better lives because of Kate and the organisations she has lead.

Kate also founded GoodCompany 18 years ago and was a volunteering visionary. She knew back then that doing good is good for business; that professional volunteering is a key way organisations can offer meaningful support the community; and that volunteering is a core element of a robust CSR program. I’m proud to continue her legacy and to match increasing numbers of volunteers and charities.

Thank you Kate for being irrepressible in your fight to advance woman’s human rights.

I pledge to #beboldforchange and request that, to mark IWD and commit to a more just future for women worldwide, you consider donating to a cause that supports women in advancing their education or career.

When you educate a girl, she can change her world. She'll have a better chance of growing up to earn an income, be healthy and educate her own children. Buy school shoes and socks for five girls in Africa with One Girl Australia or provide one girl with the essential things she needs to attend school for a year with CARE Australia.

Locally, you could support Dress for Success to provide professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help disadvantaged women thrive in work and life. Or support the critical work of the NPY Women’s Council that is positively changing the lives of Aboriginal women and their families.
