Beauty & Possibility

Beauty & Possibility

Yesterday morning when I stepped out of my kitchen and looked at the garden, I saw hundreds of daffodils?that needed to be deadheaded, many overgrown perennials crowding?out other perennials, leaves choking plants and 12 new plants still in their pots that needed to be planted. I was overcome with exhaustion and dread.?I almost turned around and went inside to do the Sunday NYT Crossword instead-my total escape.

Instead, I paused for a second and noticed a pair of chickadees flying in and out the birdhouse, hanging from the Japanese Maple tree, and was reminded of the?beauty and possibility of making things tidy and comfortable for new life. I envisioned the daffodils bidding me to take care of them, so they could prepare for next spring’s bloom. The newly purchased plants waved at me patiently for me to pick the most opportune spot to call their new home so they could thrive and attract the bees. My energy and attitude brightened as I got to work deadheading, weeding and cutting back the overgrown garden. Afterwards, I sat on the deck, with a glass of white wine, and admired the dent I made in the yard. I’m excited to get back to it.?

This morning, Monday, I have the chance to revisit my business once again. I ask myself what is the beauty in this day and the possibilities ahead of me. I have several meetings with colleagues who I haven’t spoken to in a while. I’m curious as to what they’ve been up to and I’m looking forward to our special time to support each other in our businesses. I have a new pilot program kicking off tomorrow with a group of coaches who I am going to personally help create and design their group coaching program over the next five weeks. I’m excited because when I review the names of the registrants, we haven’t met yet. I’m looking forward to learning about them.

Yesterday, I had a little niggling, a minor worry that the pilot wouldn’t fill up to capacity. What I couldn’t see was that often people wait until the very last minute to enroll. I had forgotten that! I woke up to more signups and I’m closing down registration today, confident that the group is the perfect size for the pilot I had envisioned.

Focusing on beauty and possibility whether it’s in my garden or in my business,? lightens my soul. What is beautiful about your day? What are the possibilities?

Interested in my Pilot Program? Message me and if I still have space we can talk:)

Much love and light,

Susan

When faced with the decision to tackle an overwhelming job, the temptation to escape is real. When you do tackle it, one step at a time, you get momentum, start to see change, and you begin to envision the transformation, which motivates you to take the next step. That was my story on Saturday when I approached my back and front yard. I wanted to get my vegetable garden started, but I first had to dig up some more of my lawn, had to move dirt from one area to another, and dig up the hard clumps. The front lawn had to be removed - even the weeds weren't thriving there, so time for a new look. That soil front could contribute to the garden. So many possibilities, but a few hurdles to overcome (i.e. a lot of hard work). I started one step at a time. When I stopped once in a while to look at what was left to do, my energy flagged. Took brief rests, contemplated the situation, and then again just focused on the one next step, reverse engineering- contemplating what had to be dug up or moved to make the next thing possible. I couldn't believe what I did in one day, and now I can start planting seeds. Like you - now I can't wait to get back to it, because the changes I made were so rewarding, and now I see the possibilities.
