The beauty of the Pharmaceutical Industry.

The Pharmaceutical industry is concerned with the manufacture of medicines (drugs and drug substances) for treating and curing disease.
The pharmaceutical manufacturing process plays a huge part, not only in the curative ability of the drug but also in its safety and quality.
The drug discovery, design and development process is such a complex and lengthy one, that starts with the lead compounds, from which corresponding analogues are synthesized.
The process is dependent on several science fields, notably: Medicine, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry.
Most important, however, is a proper understanding of disease at the molecular level.
With the intricate complexity of the human body, the ever-changing life lifestyle, the very high mutation rate among pathogens and the ever-increasing toxicity of the environment where man lives, the industry hugely depends on current cutting-edge technology and continuous research.
To ensure quality, several quality control tests are carried out on raw materials, packaging and finished products to ensure conformity to the set standards. Finished products are for example subject to Assay, Uniformity of Dosage Units (UDU), Related Substances (RS), and Stability tests, among others.
To ensure consistency in drug descriptions, preparations, and standards for their preparations and dispensing, the industry greatly depends on several official publications called Pharmacopoeias. International pharmacopoeia are the US Pharmacopeia (USP), the British Pharmacopoeia (BP), the Canadian Pharmacopoeia and the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP)
The industry, however, has to deal with several risks and potential hazards to human life; from dealing with some of the world's most dangerous chemicals to the virulent nature of the microbes and some of its products.
Therefore, there is strict adherence to several safety measures SOPs; to ensure the safety of both the products and that of the workers in the field.
