The Beauty of Our Imperfections | Two short tales |
“Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” — Orison Swett Marden.
Story of the limping dog:
Once upon a time, in a small village, there was a limping dog. The dog had a limp in his hind leg, and he was often teased by children in the village for being different. But the limping dog never let the teasing get to him.?He knew that his limp made him unique and gave him character.
One day, the limping dog came across a small girl who was crying. She had dropped her basket of fruits, and the fruits had rolled down the hill. The limping dog went to her and helped her collect the fruits. The girl was grateful and asked the dog to come to her house.
The next day, the girl’s mother asked the limping dog to guard their house as some thieves had been spotted in the village. That night when thieves saw a limping dog guarding the house so fiercely, they thought he was a force to be reckoned with and left without causing anyone harm.
The limping dog had saved the day. The villagers came to know of his bravery and began to appreciate him for who he was. They saw that his limp did not define him but made him more unique and special.
The story of the limping dog teaches us that imperfections can be a source of strength and character. When we embrace our imperfections, we can learn to use them as a source of growth and strength.
Age old story of the broken Pot:
An poor old man would carry two water pots to his home everyday from the nearby river. One pot was sturdy and while the other had a crack. The pot with the crack always felt inferior and was embarrassed that he could not perform as well.
One day, the pot apologized to old wise man, who in turn replied: “I intentionally planted flowers along the path from the river to my hut. You watered those flowers every day and gave them life, growth and beauty”
Learn to appreciate the cracks and imperfections in life because they could bring about unexpected beauty and growth.
The Beauty of Imperfections:
The beauty of imperfections lies in the uniqueness and individuality they bring.?When we accept imperfection, we learn to appreciate things for what they are and not?what we want them to be. We can find beauty in the unexpected, the irregular, and the unique. An imperfect piece of art or furniture may have a charm that is flawless, which a machine-made piece may lack. Similarly, a person’s quirks and flaws make them more interesting and endearing than someone who seems too perfect.
Imperfections can also serve as a source of growth and learning. When we acknowledge our mistakes and flaws, we can work on them and become better versions of ourselves. We can learn to embrace our imperfections and not let them hold us back.
In a world that often values perfection and conformity, embracing imperfections is a radical act of self-love and acceptance.
By recognizing and appreciating the beauty of imperfections, we can learn to live more authentically and joyfully, celebrating our uniqueness and the diversity around us.
