The beauty industry…
Start a cosmetic business in Uganda. The cosmetics industry is very high, but it's growing at a very slow rate. A lot of people have been much more aware of their skin and physical appearance since the late 1990s. In the beauty industry, there are not many cosmetics. This is an opportunity you would want to take advantage of; do it well. To start a cosmetic company in Uganda. it is important that you put a few of these things in your consideration.
1. Market research – A cosmetic company needs a lot of market research, you need to come up with the idea of your product and then do a lot of research in how you are going to make it and whether there is a market for your product. Niches that come under the cosmetic industry are somewhat different from one to another. Thus, industry and market analysis varies from an area to another. Here you also make samples, because no one may have an opinion on them without having first seen and checked the various samples for validity insurance. If the goal is to make creams, ointments, lotion… make a sample, do analysis on it then compare it with the already on market related products. Welcome comments from the market and act upon them. If the feedback is positive then proceed to the next stage, and only if the feedback is still negative then you'll need to focus on your product a little more. 2. Operating premises – You need to have an operational place to operate the company in, where you do not need to be in front of clients but in some situations you do. If you are leaning toward cosmetics that contain highly flammable ingredients like paraffin then you must do all of your cosmetics making in a contained space where it is protected from fire or other hazards. 3. Raw material sourcing – A genuine and consistent supplier of the material for production is also important to consider as setting up a plant. In Uganda almost all the raw materials are imported by those retailers. Hence a need to get a good retailer for consistency in you product quality. Some suppliers provide grade B material, a need to source out grade A materials. 4. Obtain licenses – As a prerequisite, you can register your business for it to be legal in the country and also to pay taxes. Instead, register your

business as a private company or otherwise stated. Apply for Standard or Quality marks from Uganda National Beural of Standards (UNBS). Joining organizations such as Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) for instance, help fight for these manufactured products. 5. Unique Branding – As per cosmetics is concerned, having a distinctive look is very important, I can't stress this enough. Be sure to find a graphic designer who can produce good looking packaging, designing for you the best label for a client to really fall in love with it on a market even before its use. You should make sure the look of your skincare line is professional. Nobody wants to use cosmetic skincare that was created by amateurs. Go all out with the initiative. (Point of reminder.) 6. Marketing a cosmetic shop – Marketing (advertisement) is critically critical because it determines whether or not you will have success or failure on your part. As a prerequisite, you would need to have a website, it is best to create an online e-commerce platform so that you can sell items directly from your website. Simple, create Facebook account for your business, trade on WhatsApp, Instagram, (you know more) I mean social media is also nowadays ranked among the best e-commerce platforms. Building your online store normally costs a little penny a month. Get registered on Jumia. Jiji etc. If you would like to hire me, please do so.
Conclusion
In order to get the best deals, it's best to begin selling on your own website. This way, the consumer base would be much wider and you will sell to consumers around the world. As a starting company, it's highly unlikely that your product will be purchased by big retail stores while you are still in service.
