Beauty Of Enough!!

That day I was having a call with my old friend in the evening he told me that there is a halo around the moon, and it has the colors of the rainbow in it. Have you seen it !!
I quickly walk to my balcony trying to spot the moon only to realize that it is far behind our building. I had to lean hard to catch a glimpse of a slice of it. It wasn’t a satisfying angle, and I wished the moon was placed in a more favorable spot.
?I laughed at the absurdity of my ‘wish’! Of course, the moon was placed in all its glory exactly where it is supposed to be placed. My ‘wishing’ doesn’t count! But I enjoyed the wish and decided to dwell on it a little further – There is a coral jasmine ( parijat ) tree at the entrance gate of our society that flowers beautifully around March-June. I ‘wish’ it was placed near my balcony! I also ‘wish’ that the leaves would shine bronze at night rather than look all black. And while I was indulging garrulously in my absurd ‘wishes’, I also ‘wished’ that the night sky should always be in the shades of purple-blue-pink rather than black; clouds should be multicolored alphabets, and roses should bloom 365 days a year!
?Ah!! What beautiful thoughts!!??I realized I was smiling when my friend asked, “what is so funny”?
But even as I smiled, I realized that we don’t make such wishes – of purple skies and golden leaves. Have you ever heard anyone say such things, because I haven’t.
?The point is, nature, in all its form, is enough. Always enough. The crooked branches, the falling leaves, the waning moon, the blue sky, the green leaves – everything is just enough!
I think we all need to discover within ourselves the ‘beauty of enough’. I think, since we do not understand the concept in its totality, we remain frustrated and dissatisfied most of our lives.
Am I implying that ‘wanting-more’ is bad?
Absolutely not! Wanting more is good, very good. But I believe even as we want ‘more’ which implies growth and progress, there is a need to enjoy happiness and satisfaction here and now with whatever we have. The ability of saying that “Yes, someday I will buy that big car, but for now, this small car is enough,” and “Someday I will surely earn that XXX amount of money, but for now, my X is enough,” will create a every-day beautiful space within us.

There is something very soothing and settling about the understanding of the ‘beauty of enough’. It calms you down and allows space within to feel the harmony. I strongly believe that nothing good can be achieved when the inside of our being is in turmoil. Only from a space of stillness can great thoughts and ideas generate – a very powerful space indeed, to achieve. And from that powerful space, all dreams can be turned into a reality. And that divine space can be achieved from experiencing the ‘beauty of enough’.
I have noticed that in our daily lives, we are so stressed out and occupied with our life’s chase that there is no green patch left for fresh thoughts to take seeds. We wake up with 20 problems chasing our mind and we feel that everything needs to be straightened out before we breathe.
Let’s realize that it’s a myth –
Everything can never be straightened out. There will always be new things emerging every moment that will ask for more. The business of straightening out is a life’s process rather than a close-ended project; so, let it happen.?The realization of it will be our first step towards unravelling the ‘beauty of enough’.
Let’s tell ourselves that “I am enough. That here and now is enough. The air in my lungs and food in my fridge is enough. My friends are enough. My days are enough, and my nights are enough. All that I have and will have, is enough. I am happy, satisfied and calm – I am enough.”
The unravelling of this ‘beauty of enough’ will petal-by-petal unfold a life that holds within each furl the enchanting colors of life, growth, progress, and happiness. Let’s breathe in the ‘beauty of enough’ and settle down into that powerful dynamic space of peace, tranquility, and stillness.
Lets celebrate I am me and that’s “Enough”!
I am me and that’s “Enough”!

2 年Lovely deep thoughts Panda! How beautifully penned. Brought back memories of similar 'wishes' we might all have m, but never could bring out the deep meaning behind them. Loved the article so much... shared with my daughters as well.
