In vino Veritas-" In wine there is truth". It's April, and I am happy to see another new month and one thing I know and one thing I have found is our today is always better than our yesterday. Palm Sunday, #lentenseason did welcome some good news, suspension of Monday protests by the opposition party Azimio la Umoja and the acceptance of dialogue by our president Hon. William Ruto. May this gesture to respectfully observe the Holy week to Easter bring about a breakthrough dialogue.
This Easter week at Karel T-Lounge restaurant offers the best #todrinkornotodrink lets talk ambience. Karel T-Lounge is located at the Village Market, along Limuru Road, Nairobi, Kenya.
The voice of my good friend on the other side of the phone was directing me to where to find the restaurant, "Get into the new wing, its near the Text Book Centre". I could tell my friend must have been smiling, "look up am here" and waves for me to come in. Walking into this beautifully and warmly lit restaurant, I spot my friend Dr. Mark Wall. Dr. Wall is a professional Academia and a Program Coordinator, Communications and Information 'Expert on mission' in Mogadishu, Somalia for the United Nations.
How's Mogadishu Mark? Firstly before I indulge you briefly on our talk, the attention here is to also appreciate this beautiful Lounge and its excellent service staff. Faith was our dedicated service staff for the evening. She warmly welcomed us with the wine and food menu list and when dining out in the evening always go right into placing your order before the talks get in the way.
How's Mogadishu and the new education program in Mogadishu coming along Mark? Its the holy month of Ramadhan, he noted and we are all appreciating to observe the month with them. I have this exciting museum program I am?putting up that we will use to tell educative stories of Mogadishu through artistic cartoons.
"Oh wow that must be an interesting project there Mark."?Would you like to share more about this program and the current instability? " Yes, firstly with my love for books I have already set up a mini Library, with the concept of "pick and replace" but with a smile notes the replace with a book is not yet catchy. However as for the museum, its still on plan, I am receiving the right kind of support and there can never miss challenges like in any other program. On the instability, we have scares once in while and have to stop working for a while but we are trained often to be prepared. We have the right security presence and training to keep me focused.
Mark what keeps you focused and successful as an expert in your profession? My good friend has a wealth of experience in many disciplines and leaves me with a take home that you can also apply in your pursuits this year, keep doing the things that interest you and keep learning and read widely.
Do you enjoy to eat out? yes I prefer to cook at home but I also enjoy a quiet ambience like the one that Karel provides. I agree, that eating out and connecting with people does provide a good work life balance and just like a good work out, appreciating the art of food and wine works on the senses that connect to creativity.
Faith comes over to pour us a second glass of Cielo Pinot Noir an Italian red wine as she sets the table to serve our dinner. We were both looking forward to having our choice foods of grilled salmon served on a bed of grilled eggplant with tomato and cucumber salad and?Grilled pork chops with fresh thyme flavor and mashed potatoes. The meal was sprightly refreshing and a healthy serve with an African touch.
Welcome to Karel T-lounge at the Village Market which has set the pace in the hospitality industry this new month. I'll keep appreciating the hospitality and tourism industry for the many job opportunities they keep providing for our youth today.
It only takes persistent discipline, interest and passion to excel as an Academia. You have to dedicate years of study in theoretical research to have an understanding to lead and teach others in a discipline you have mastered. As my good friend notes, lets keep pursuing the things that interest us, keep learning and read widely. I am Wanjiku Kagwanja the Wine talks show host & Writer who tells the African story the African way to keep us moving forward.
