A Beautiful Day at the Chipandwes

Today is Saturday, a wonderful day
January 3rd feels like a day in May
Kalunga woke up with energy so great
Mutaminwa spoke quickly, not a slow rate
Mwelwa entered the room like a butterfly?
Spread her wings, greeted all softly with her smile
Kalunga grinned, tossed his M&Ms so high
Behold! Many pieces waiting in a pile
Tami came to the rescue, put all in file
Mwelwa entertained us with a slight of hand
And Kalunga kept moving can’t count the miles
Yet, my spirit soared; my face put on a smile
Tami played an impala on a wide plain
She kept jumping, gliding, flying like a plane
Yet, she kept asking me: what are you writing?
I told her: wait! Soon, it you will be reading
She nodded and continued entertaining
I smiled.?Today, the sun is really shining!
Kalunga left the room; Tami is watching
In the other room the TV is blaring
Mwelwa and Rosalie so busy looking
?Gazing at pictures from the trip, enjoying
Now, I am alone inside the room thinking
What a beautiful day at the Chipandwes!
Mwelwa and Rosalie now in the garden
They are thinking of paradise called Eden
They find a snail crawling the path it’s beaten
Thought to pick it up; no! Not to be eaten
Both agree escargot cannot be trodden
They gave him his freedom, assured his haven
Today is a great day! Life is beautiful!
So, Rosalie and I thank the Chipandwes
