Beautiful Choices

“The root of beauty was beautiful choices,” Epictetus philosophised 2000 years ago.

He explained that you are what your choices make you, nothing more and nothing less.

I imagine that Epitetus?was referring to true beautiful human behaviour, not merely physical beauty. Yet, it applies to both. Beauty, in either case, cannot be separated from the process, the regiment that creates it. It takes practice, it takes discipline, it takes sacrifice, it takes weeks and months and years. It’s the decision, day after day after day, to get out of bed early and go for a run. It’s how often you work with your mentor instead of a gaming device, the groceries instead of the fast food, the journal instead of the phone. It’s saying “no” to distractions, and “yes” to put in real efforts in your own learning journey.

So if you would like to be a better version of yourself, that gives you a good place to start—in your choices.

Everyday presents us with plenty of opportunities to make a choice—between beauty or ugliness; kindness or selfishness; mercy or vengeance; serenity or anger. If you want a beautiful life, there is no escaping it: you have to make beautiful choices.

As 2022 is upon us, it’s the perfect time to get in the habit of making beautiful choices to realise your Future Self.

You know you deserve better. You know you are capable of being better at work, at home and at play. What is it going to take for you to actually ask for it? When are you going to fulfil your innate potential?

How about right now? Because it’s possible. This year. We are putting it to you here: Stop delaying your personal growth, waiting for it to just happen. Because it will not. Someone has to take control.

That someone is you.

I created Myrita for you and for that reason—to help you better a slightly better version of yourself, and a new you in 2022. As you seek your inner wisdom, Myrita serves a set of prompts and reminders for your lifelong learning journey. While you navigate the disruption in your life, Myrita documents your thoughts and deliberate your plans for self-exploration, self-awareness, and personal development.

But when you see the results? Well, it will take your breath away when you see your own progress.

May we all be well and happy and safe. Happy 2022.?
