Matthew 5:4 Amplified Bible (AMP)

4 “Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted].”

Have you ever felt relief after you have asked God to forgive you? I know I have.  In verse 3 of Matthew 5, Jesus was speaking on pride and how to address it. We realize that our pride gets in the way of growing in our relationship with Jesus and with others, and if our hearts are soft, we feel remorseful and make the decision to repent. Notice this is our decision to make: to repent. God will not force us to repent. God can bring to our conscience the sin, but it is our part to decide to repent (not to do the sin again).  

The Beatitudes come after Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He selects His disciples and began His ministry by teaching and healing. Jesus modeled the different circumstances any human being may go through (whether you go into ministry or not).

So, be encouraged, because the Beatitudes are blessings God wants to give you and me.
