The Beating Heart

The Beating Heart

If the shopfront is the pretty face of a retail brand, then the warehouse is its beating heart. When retailers compete against each other, the biggest battles are being fought not on the high street, but in arenas scattered around the country in non-descript business parks on the edges of provincial towns, where land is cheap and motorways are proximate.

The quest to serve the consumer faster, with more variety, greater visibility, with less impact on the environment, and all at the lowest-possible cost using cutting-edge technologies and ingenious strategies, is where businesses will live or die. The warehouse is where thousands of supply chains from around the world come together in a single location to give the consumer the availability of goods they have come to expect.

As the wonderful world of logistics touches everyone’s lives in one way or another, it's no surprise that we never run out of things to write about. ?

I loved this comparison between a shop window and a warehouse. I find it so accurate that I can't do anything else but share it ??
