Beating COVID-19 Through Service.

Beating COVID-19 Through Service.

Dear Friends of Blinded Veterans Association,

Our nation is rising to meet the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) Pandemic. Strained healthcare systems continue treating patients, struggling businesses continue producing essential goods and services, and stressed supply chains continue to deliver. These are undoubtedly uncertain times, yet as always, Americans continue rising to the challenge.

We’re inspired by incredible human-interest stories playing out across the country. Stories of American ingenuity and compassion in the face of adversity. Opportunities to unite, even while practicing social distancing. Blinded Veterans Association is humbled to be a part of this evolving global initiative.

For our Veterans and Families adjusting to sight loss, the often overwhelming challenges of adapting to seemingly normal activities of daily living have become even further encumbered. Yet, thanks to supporters such as you, we overcome these challenges through optimism, tenacity, and empowerment. Together, you enable us to continue serving the more than 130,000 Veterans living with blindness.

As Congress and the President unify in empowering our country to overcome this crisis, Blinded Veterans Association continues its service to those who served and sacrificed so much for America. Although forced to cancel major fund-raising events, our offices remain staffed and telephones manned, ensuring the needs of our Veterans are met.

Please consider supporting our efforts today. Thanks to the recently enacted CARES Act, Congress has created new incentives for charitable giving. Non-itemizers are now eligible to receive up to a $300 above-the-line charitable income tax deduction for cash donations made in 2020. While this might not seem like a lot to an individual’s pocketbook, it would go a long way in assisting us through the crisis to continue our important work.
