Bear Standing Tall Cultural Awareness Trainer

Bear Standing Tall Cultural Awareness Trainer

In the heart of Canada, there lives a remarkable man known as Bear Standing Tall. He is a Nehiyaw from the Onion Lake Cree Nation, Treaty 6 Territory. More than just a man, he is a beacon of hope, a bridge between cultures, and a voice for the Indigenous People of Canada. Bear Standing Tall is a Cultural Awareness Trainer, a role he embraces with passion and dedication. His mission is to educate Canadian corporations on how to work respectfully and confidently with Indigenous People.

Bear Standing Tall is married to Pamela Carter, a woman of great strength and spirit. Known by her spirit name, Red Medicine Woman, Pamela owns the company they both work for. This company is a proud Indigenous woman-owned business, a testament to their commitment to empowering Indigenous communities.

Born and raised in the Onion Lake Cree Nation, Bear Standing Tall is deeply rooted in his Nehiyaw heritage. The stories of his ancestors, their struggles, and their resilience guide him. These stories, passed down through generations, have ignited a spark within him. He knows he has a calling - to share these stories, to share the truth, and to foster understanding and respect between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

His methods are as diverse as the land itself. He believes in the power of face-to-face interaction, the wisdom of the land, and the reach of digital technology. He conducts workshops, advises corporations, and even hosts 'lunch and learns'. His digital eLearns and downloads are popular, reaching audiences far and wide. Yet, his land-based training holds a special place in his heart, as he believes that the land is a teacher in itself.

Bear Standing Tall and Red Medicine Woman's work has a powerful impact on many corporations in Canada, including Yamaha, Uber, Interac, Rogers, Aecon, TD Canada Trust, Scotia Bank, CIBC, BMO, AON, TCS, the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, OCAD University, the University of Toronto, and Humber University College. Their work is not just about business; it's about building good relations between Indigenous peoples, corporations, and newcomers to Canada.

Bear Standing Tall is driven by a vision. A vision of a better world for humanity and the next seven generations of Indigenous children. He believes that by sharing the truth about Indigenous history in Canada, he can help shape a future of reconciliation and mutual respect.

He draws upon the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's 94 calls to action, a comprehensive guide to addressing the legacy of residential schools and advancing the process of reconciliation. He also incorporates the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business's Progressive Aboriginal Relations program into his training, highlighting the importance of economic reconciliation.

Bear Standing Tall is an innovator and entrepreneur, striving to make a powerful impact towards good business relations between corporations in Canada and Indigenous Peoples. His stories are not just tales; they are lessons from the past, guiding lights for the present, and blueprints for the future. He believes in the power of truth, the strength of understanding, and the promise of reconciliation.

In addition to his training work, Bear Standing Tall has authored a book titled "How to Ally with Indigenous People." This book further extends his reach, providing a valuable resource for those seeking to understand and respect Indigenous cultures and histories.

Through his work, Bear Standing Tall is starting a ripple of change that spreads across corporations and communities, touching the hearts and minds of those who listen. His journey is not easy, but his resolve is unshakeable. He stands tall, like the bear, strong and fearless, driven by a purpose greater than himself.

Bear Standing Tall continues his mission, one story, one workshop, one corporation at a time, sowing seeds of understanding and respect, nurturing a future where Indigenous and non-Indigenous people stand together, not apart. His story, and the story of Red Medicine Woman, is a testament to the power of truth, the promise of reconciliAction, and the enduring spirit of the Nehiyaw people and the Indigenous People of Canada.

Reconciliation has to be genuine and non-partisan; it's a two-way street. Without truth, justice and healing, there can be no reconciliation.
