As I wrote this poem, I recollected all my childhood memories of going to the beach with my family, enjoying, splashing water on my siblings , playing in the sand, building sand castles. I had gone to Vizag a couple of years back on official work. Yes, of course went to the beach and not only enjoyed the water, but was mesmerized watching the waves, tide, the cool breeze and the calming effect it had on my soul and mind. I sure could have stayed at the beach forever.
Barefoot I walk to the beach,
My feet sinking into the soft white sand,
Ebullient, I stand on the shore,
Waiting for the water to come and touch me,
The sand sinking below my feet,
Watching the waves slashing against,
Water rushing to the shore,
Some waves are coy & torpid, some others are effervescent & rambunctious,
Like a well composed symphony, euphonious and rhythmic,
Trying to hold the slippery sand in my hand,
Observing sand castles being built,
Shells of different shapes & sizes,
Crabs, scorpions and other sea creatures,
Tide washed and rippled in sodden sand along the beach running amok,
The cool calming breeze caressing my skin, tousling my hair,
The grey sky above,
Shimmering stars and lights glistening the beach,
Oh! so placid & serene,
Strolling on the sand dunes,
Water splashing on me,
Reminiscing, cleansing my soul’s debris,
Calming the frayed nerve,
Bidding adieu to the clutter,
Amalgamating into the tranquility,
I sit by the blue ocean,
Seagulls and flamingos chattering and playing,
Looking at the pristineness and the beauty of nature,
Wish time stood still,
Wish I could be at the beach forever.
