BE-ST Bits of August
Built Environment - Smarter Transformation
BE-ST is the launchpad to a zero carbon built environment.
Hello, we have had some exciting updates this month as we continue to connect with our industry, academic and public sector stakeholders to keep pushing forward the mission.
We opened bookings for BE-ST Fest '24. Make sure to join us at Paisley Town Hall this year on 6th and 7th November.
To all educators and college providers - the launch of our new educator's programme will be of interest as we are running a six-month agile leadership course.
And members of the BE-ST team have been having conversations with companies, internationally and in Scotland, looking ahead at future regulations in their regions to discuss how they can best adapt to these requirements.
BE-ST Fest is back
This year we are turning ambition into action. We'll put into sharp focus the testing and exploration of tangible and impactful actions as we collectively work toward decarbonising our built environment.

Scotland's largest modular low-rise, affordable housing development
Big news in Scottish offsite construction as Connect Modular Ltd and Cunninghame Housing Association have completed Scotland's largest modular low-rise, affordable housing development in budget and 18 weeks ahead of schedule.
Connect Modular is part of The Wee House Company , who is a partner in our collaborative offsite organisation Offsite Solutions Scotland. The development is a great example from one of our partners of how effective modular construction can be for project delivery.

The Launch of New Educator Leadership Course
We're launching the BE-ST Educator Programme, a six-month agile leadership course to support educators with upskilling within new practices, developing competencies to aid the delivery of their role and providing tangible solutions to support the tertiary education sector.
The programme consists of one session per month between October 2024 and March 2025.
Navigating future challenges through collaborative dialogue
We must work together to solve the sector's most pressing challenges, and it's important that we explore solutions together. To do this, we have been having conversations with companies, internationally and in Scotland, who are looking ahead at future regulations in their regions and how they can best adapt to these requirements.
Gavin Johnston spoke with Loader Monteith Architects to share his expertise on retrofit principles and the legislative drive towards net zero emissions. And Danish house builder Frifeldt visited BE-ST to discuss solutions that will help them meet regulations at home.
These open dialogues are important and the expertise in BE-ST can help you navigate future challenges. If you are interested in speaking to a member of our team, please get in touch.
Member of Parliament visit from Michael Shanks, MP for Rutherglen
It was a pleasure to welcome Michael Shanks MP for Rutherglen to the BE-ST Innovation Campus this month! He was particularly interested to learn about innovative carbon-neutral buildings including the Social Bite Nest House, a demonstrator for the new Social Bite Village proposed for South Lanarkshire and the Recovery Village in Dundee to support people struggling with homelessness and addiction.
