InclusivityMatters
I want to further spread the word about how BCLP is killing it(okay, setting the standard for D&I in the legal profession) in the D&I game! The law firm who won LawCareers.Net Commendation For Diversity, team up with Aspiring Solicitors to host the annual award-winning RaceForChange; a DiversityAndInclusion event, to support aspiring lawyers from the African diaspora.(Shoutout for BlackHistoryMonth s)
The firm also launched CommercialCafes(even more opportunities to improve skills) - informal group with business-related discussions to boost skills and confidence. It's all about preparing, empowering and uplifting future legal professionals from under-represented backgrounds.
If the foregoing doesn't demonstrate an unmatched commitment to diversity and the creation of a more equitable workplace, then, what is? They are not just talking the Equalityforall talk; they are walking the walk; obviously.
Race For Change 2024
Feeling so inspired, motivated and appreciative of the opportunity to be a part of Race for Change 2024 hosted by BCLP and Aspiring Solicitors. It was such an eye-opening experience; connecting with fellow aspiring solicitors and legal professionals, learning about their personal journeys into law and getting invaluable insights on the vacation schemes and training contracts applications.
We learned so much from experienced, personable lawyers who networked with us, shared inspiring stories about their journeys, guided us through commercial awareness case studies and offered extremely useful insights on skills, culture, attitudes and tips on applying for training contracts and vacation schemes.
At the end of each session we asked questions and engage in meaningful discussions with industry professionals. The conversations and networking with them continued long after the sessions ended. We were so honoured!
Commercial Cafes
The CommercialAwareness case studies sessions were FIRE incarnate. Experienced lawyers who clearly knew their stuff, delivered such valuable insights about real-life legal scenarios.
It was such a game-changer to learn about the importance of being commercially aware when we advise corporate clients. Definitely my favourite part of the event! My passion for CommercialLaw was evident.
The support and resources we gained are invaluable. Can't wait to apply our newfound skills and knowledge in our applications and future legal roles.
