New Structure & Rules for the BCHL

After announcing its departure from Hockey Canada earlier this year, the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) have officially become an independent league. Here are some new regulations the league will be operating under for the 2023-2024 season:

  • A?minimum of three?players under the age of 18 are required for each team, which is an increase from two in previous years.

  • A?maximum of two?former CHL players of any age are permitted on a roster. Ex-CHL players rostered to BCHL rosters as of Jan. 10. 2023 are to be grandfathered in.

  • A?maximum of eight affiliate?registrations are permitted per team. Affiliates may come from any independent minor/youth/high school league across North America. BC Hockey has dictated that CSSHL, BCEHL and Junior B can?no longer?affiliate with BCHL as an independent league.

Question of the Week?

Academics, Social Life & Sports. How do I balance all three?

  • Prioritize and set goals ??:?Determine your priorities and set clear goals for each aspect of your life. Decide what is most important to you and allocate your time accordingly.

  • Time management ??:?Develop good time management skills to make the most of your available time. Avoid procrastination and break down your tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. Use techniques such as the Pomodoro Technique (working in focused 25-minute intervals) to enhance productivity.

  • Set boundaries ??:?Establish boundaries and learn to say no when necessary. It's important to be able to decline certain social invitations or limit the time spent on less important activities when you have academic or sports commitments.

  • Take care of yourself ??:?Remember to prioritize self-care and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Get enough sleep, eat nutritious meals, and exercise regularly. Taking care of your well-being will help you perform better academically and in sports, as well as enjoy your social interactions.
