The Hotel Association of Canada has just announced the appointment of new president and CEO, Beth McMahon , effective September 16th, 2024. As an award-winning association leader, McMahon has extensive industry experience and is committed to leading the HAC into the next chapter of growth and advocacy success.

“I am honoured to join the Hotel Association of Canada at such a pivotal time for our industry,” said McMahon. “The hotel industry is a vital part of Canada’s economy and culture, and I look forward to working with our members and partners to continue to build momentum, promote our industry’s value, and effectively influence and advocate on key issues.”

Under the guidance of Beth McMahon, the Association will continue to champion the interests of the hotel sector. A particular focus will be placed on addressing critical workforce issues, ensuring fair rules for short-term rentals, and strengthening Canada’s position as a competitive travel destination. The Federal government is considering new measures to curb the use of the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program due to concerns about worker abuse and misuse of the program. Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault announced a suite of changes he plans to pursue to reduce the number of such workers in Canada. The decision stems from growing criticism of the government’s immigration policies, which are seen as straining housing stock and healthcare services.

Designed to enhance the guest experience through a series of mobile-centric tools, Wyndham Connect leverages an AI-driven large-language model, allowing owners to cater to travellers and their evolving needs. More than 2,000 hotels in North America have started using Wyndham Connect.
