BCC PLANNING COMMITTEE SHERLOCK STREET
Simon Delahunty-Forrest
Assistant Director Development Planning & Development Birmingham City Council
At planning committee yesterday Members resolved to approve a residential led mixed use scheme including a 30 storey tower, incorporating 551 apartments and Class E uses, potentially including shops, cafes, restaurants, gyms or compatible light industrial uses under application reference 2020/09624/PA. The application site is bounded by Sherlock Street, Hurst Street and Bishop Street in the Southside area of the City Centre. The proposed development represents high design quality and includes the provision of a new publicly accessible amenity space which also acts as a pedestrian through route. The proposal accords with the aspirations of the Birmingham Development Plan and the Rea Valley Urban Quarter SPD. A big thankyou to my officers who provided constructive, responsive and professional engagement with the applicant. I look forward to seeing the scheme built out.
