Daylight saving time may soon be coming to an end in British Columbia. Provincial legislators have introduced a measure that would eliminate seasonal time changes by mid-March. The move was backed by 93 per cent of B.C. survey respondents, who largely cited health and wellness as their main concerns. The proposed act would enforce a permanent “Pacific Time" that would push sunlight an hour later in the winter. Despite an uncertain approval timeline, the province plans to move forward with or without its partners as a commitment to its population’s requests. ? Here’s what people are saying.

McDonald's has fired its CEO Steve Easterbrook for having a consensual relationship with an employee that violated company policy. The burger giant's board voted last week to remove Easterbrook and he also resigned from the board, admitting in an email to employees to having made a mistake. McDonald's USA President Chris Kempczinski will take over the role. Easterbrook was widely credited with reviving the company's fortune after a poor 2015. During his tenure, McDonald's shares nearly doubled in value, and it emphatically embraced technology. ? Here’s what people are saying.

The world's most profitable company is moving forward with an initial public offering. After approval from Saudi Arabia regulators, and a lot of false starts, oil producer Saudi Aramco will finally be giving investors a chance to own a piece of the company as it looks to float shares in Riyadh. CEO Amin Nasser made the announcement at a press conference and declined to comment on the company's valuation. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has pushed to value Aramco at close to US$2 trillion, CNN reports, while analysts value it at no more than US$1.5 trillion. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Cannabis NB's new president, Patrick Parent, says the operation won't be profitable until next year or later. New Brunswick's Crown-owned cannabis retailer has 20 stores across the province and lost almost $12 million in its first six months, although sales are on the rise. In an interview, Parent added they recognize there is a "price gap with the illicit market" and they are "aggressively addressing" it. Legalized cannabis had been pitched as an "economic windfall," but roughly 50 illegal cannabis stores still remain in the province. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s are phasing out fur products for good by 2021 as U.S. interest in the material wanes. While rising fur demand remains a “bright spot” in Canada’s harvesting industry revenues, according to The Toronto Star, recent opt-outs from retailers and designers have some in Canada calling for a re-evaluation of fur-trading traditions and practices. The major retailers’ announcement generated “unstoppable momentum” for the anti-fur movement, say activists, and they hope it will motivate other Canadian brands to break the “status quo.” ? Here’s what people are saying.

Idea of the Day: When you are small and your resources are most constrained, finding the right people is the most important thing you can do, writes Stephen A. Schwarzman, chairman of the Blackstone Group.

"At a minimum, you must reduce your criteria to a simple question: Does this person have the same zealous commitment to the mission of this business as you do?"

Eliminate ALL time changes everywhere. It is an agrarian and outdated concept. Besides, borrowing time, like money, and then paying it back, is a ridiculous practice.

"Daylight saving time may soon be coming to an end in British Columbia. " - this statement is wrong. What the government is proposing is exactly the opposite - to make DST permanent year-round (as of last weekend, we are in Standard Time). That means we would have one more time change next spring (DST - spring forward), and that would be the official time year-round.? https://globalnews.ca/news/6103738/bc-government-set-to-introduce-legislation-on-thursday-to-make-daylight-saving-time-permanent/

Daylight savings was something we did in partnership with the States and to correct the Julian calendar. Removing it is a corporate move.
