BC Hypocrisy

Why doesn't the Premier of BC the Honourable John Horgan do something about the toxic dumping of 82 million litres per day of raw sewage into the ocean by the City of Victoria? Why aren't the BC environmentalist protesting against the City of Victoria? Why is there a double standard? It's fine for BC residence to come to Alberta and make the big bucks take it all back to BC including there tax's and then become green environmentalist. BC residence are hypocrites. Engineering will solve any leak issues with pipelines it will also solve waste water treatment issues the City of Victoria has.

Victoria may — or may not — have a terrible sewage problem. Experts are divided whether the scenic B.C. capital and its surrounding suburbs should join the rest of North America and treat its sewage, rather than continue its practice of pushing the stuff into the ocean, raw and untreated. The debate has raged for decades, with myriad proposals and sites endorsed and then rejected; they include a controversial $780 million plan that crapped out two years ago.

A new report released on Wednesday recommends a new sewage treatment facility on an industrial site in downtown Victoria, near the city’s famous Inner Harbour, with a potential construction cost of more than $1 billion. A regional committee meets Friday to consider the recommendation. In the meantime, and for the foreseeable future, the region will continue to discharge an average of 82 million litres a day into the ocean that surrounds it. Here is a history of Victoria’s sewage struggles.
