I came across something on LinkedIn earlier that I can’t seem to shake off, but unfortunately, I can’t recall who originally mentioned it (if anyone knows, please tag them so I can give proper credit).
It’s about the BBC’s page dedicated to female entrepreneurs — put frankly, it’s seriously lacking.
In the entirety of 2024, there's only one article spotlighting a female entrepreneur. This stands in stark contrast to a video on the very same page featuring the remarkable Vivien Wong of Little Moons.
In the video, Vivien discusses "if you can’t see it, you can’t be it," highlighting the critical need for visible female role models in entrepreneurship.
BBC, we need to chat! We are in touch with thousands of phenomenal female entrepreneurs through our awards programs — women who are actively reshaping how we live and work with their businesses.
This year, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards (open now!) are set to spotlight many more inspiring women.
If anyone can put me in touch with someone at the BBC, I'd love to chat!
I appreciate the point you are making but think this is a broader matter of how the BBC website updates news in its market section. e.g. attaching a snapshot from the Market Data page today - only 3 of 8 stories are even from 2024 in what should be a fast moving area of news
