BBC highlights the need for MMC

The scale of homelessness in the UK demonstrates we need radical change, in the form of overseas OSM's combined with UK delivery partners, sensible land prices, Local Authorities to relax planning & create Joint Ventures. No more excuses. The key issues which will come to shock the UK are that not only is the UK predominantly full to production capacity of the 4 main players, the remainder are very small, poorly funded and are not close to producing prototypes. Overseas factories are particularly choosy who they work with and whilst identifying OSM's via Google is not rocket science nor perhaps visiting for a tour, securing production slots is another story.

The BBC reports:

  • Homelessness affects 140,000 families, including an estimated 120,000 adults and 200,000 children
  • The number of people sleeping rough – more than 5,000 - has almost tripled since 2010
  • Most homeless people are not living on the street but in temporary accommodation or shelters, or are sleeping on friends’ sofas
  • In England, 85,000 households are in temporary accommodation, such as short-term private rentals; temporary social housing stock; and B&Bs and hostels - with an additional 10,000 on the waiting list for such accommodation
  • The rate of homelessness is significantly greater in Northern Ireland than in the rest of the UK
