December's data reveals that 43% of scams reported in our service area were online purchase scams, likely influenced by the increase in online holiday shopping.

  • Other Scam Types: Varying categories including employment scams, tech support fraud, and cryptocurrency scams.

Age of Victims: Top 3 Scam Types in 2024

The top three most frequently reported scam types in 2024 were Online Purchase Scams, Phishing Scams, and Cryptocurrency Scams.

  • Online Purchase and Phishing Scams: Reported across all age groups.
  • Cryptocurrency Scams: Primarily reported by individuals aged 35–44 and older.

Age Distribution of Victims by Scam Type The age distribution data demonstrates a varied impact on different demographics, with notable trends in each scam type:

  • Online Purchase Scams: Impacted all age groups, with significant representation from younger and older adults.
  • Phishing Scams: Affected a broad range of ages, particularly middle-aged individuals.
  • Cryptocurrency Scams: Reported exclusively by those aged 35–44 and older.
