BB GREEN – first vessel through Gotha Canal (Stockholm to Gothenburg) 2017.

?Airiel?, the world’s first air supported and battery powered 30 knots commuter ferry, has now reached the Gothenburg area, Ulf Tudem, CEO of Effect Ships International AS, reports. The transfer of the vessel on own power went fine. Going through a breath-taking Swedish countryside, navigating through some 67 locks, miles after miles of narrow channels , going up via single and multiple locks, finally reaching a maximum altitude of 92 meters above sea level, before going down again, it was an experience for life. The passage was completed in 5 days, thanks to the assistance from the very kind and gentle lock crew of the Gotha Canal company , managing this enormous man made construction. With a lock width of 7 meters and a vessel measuring slightly more than 6 meters, it was a tight squeeze. “Airiel” generated a large amount of attention, and the Ulf, Jimmy and Bengt Bruno had their hands full informing about the BB GREEN concept and this new emission free, fast and efficient passenger ferry concept.

According to plan massive disseminations and demonstrations will take place in the weeks and months to come, starting in Gothenburg these days.
