BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights at the Beach Illuminate Virginia Beach's Festive Spirit

Virginia Beach's enchanting holiday season kicked off with the dazzling BayPort Credit Union Holiday Lights at the Beach, presented by Food Lion.

The festivities commenced with a bike ride along the iconic Virginia Beach boardwalk, where visitors of all ages pedaled beneath the sparkling Christmas lights, marking the official start to the season. WPL's Principal Landscape Architect, and Virginia Beach native Billy Almond, added a local touch to the celebration as seen in the above photo.

This year, the event unveiled over 25 new light displays, including two additional blocks of lights and a remarkable 600 ft. LED tunnel—the largest and longest curved LED light tunnel in the U.S. A standout addition to the displays was the "Melting Snowman," a 17-foot-high by 14-foot-wide creation inspired by a drawing from Virginia Beach elementary school student Kylie Zhu. The festive spectacle transformed the Oceanfront Inn at 29th Street into a magical winter wonderland.

The Holiday Lights at the Beach featured whimsical scenes like jumping fish, musical crabs, and jolly elves dancing against the backdrop of the moonlit Atlantic Ocean! As families strolled through the lights, they were treated to holiday delights such as fresh popcorn, kettle corn, homemade cookies, hot apple cider, and hot chocolate.
