B.A.Ware and show you Kare Badge.

B.A.Ware and show you Kare Badge.

Super excited to share this, after 75 days of development, just wrapped up the final touches on the first batch "B.A.ware" and show you Kare circuit boards.

What is it?

It's a red heart shaped electronic circuit board with electronic components that use a PIR sensor to detect motion from pets/humanoids from about 5 meters or closer. (possibly works on zombies, not guaranteed). Once motion is detected, a signal is sent to a timer, which flashes two multi-colored alert led's for ~5 seconds. Power is supplied by a user replaceable battery located on the rear of the device.

Use cases:

  • Wear it as badge to remind you to social distance when in public places.
  • Perfect as a desk gadget that lets you know when people are walking up behind you
  • Great to let family know when you're in the middle of a project, as a do not disturb sign on your door.
  • Use it as a reminder to do something special for a loved one in your life.
  • Make up your own stuff to do with it, or just use it learn how electronic sensors and circuits work.

Lessons Learned:

OMG, I learned so many different things: starting with prototyping different versions to find the right components, to the circuit board design, which I ended up outsourcing, to board production issues, component sourcing issues, and even soldering the final pieces of the board myself. It was Awesome!

Short story of the process coming soon, and just maybe a video training course to help speed up your electronics development journey.

What is SnKTech?

SnKTech stands for Stacie (my wife) and Karlos (that's me) Technologies.

We have been involved in teaching kids, adults and generally anyone adventurous about building electronic devices that solve problems. (Ok, sometimes they just need to flash colorful led lights). Electronics will be a required skill in the near future as everything now has electronic circuits boards; most with connections to the internet built in. At SnKTech, our mission is lift as we climb, providing opportunities for under served communities and kids to experiment, while learning about electronics: Prior to covid, we held classes at Austin area community centers, Meetup groups, MakerFaire events, and we are now about to produce our own kit device: B.A.Ware and show you Kare Badge.

Stay tuned for updates soon!

Karl’s, this is really cool. What a great project taking something all the way from design to having it built. 75 days seems quick! Congrats!

This looks like such an awesome project Karlitos (Karlos) K.! I can’t imagine how much you’ve learned building this and how you can share those lessons to others learning Cloud. Well done!
