Battle of the Somme

I find it amazing that Cameron can attend the Somme Centenary and not realise the irony, when the European Union came about precisely BECAUSE of the Somme's human losses - repeated in WWII - and yet he is now the architect of Britain's departure from an organisation which, however imperfect, has delivered over 70 years of peace among its members; and he did it purely to try and cement his own leadership role.  And all to no avail: he's lost his position, and pulled the economic rug - which has encouraged cooperation rather than war - from beneath our most deprived areas, our struggling nations and regions.
