?? Governments of Canada and Ontario finalize agreement with #Umicore Rechargeable Battery Materials Canada Inc. for new plant in Loyalist Township
The facility will produce #cathodeactivematerials (CAM) and precursor cathode active materials (pCAM), which are critical components for #electricvehicle (#EV) #batteries.
The project has a total eligible cost of up to $2.761 billion, with Umicore investing $2.1 billion for the first stage of the project. The Government of Canada is supporting the project with up to $551.3 million, while the Government of Ontario is providing up to $424.6 million in support.

Recharge Industries, the new owner of bankrupt Britishvolt, plans to use the Northumberland site to supply batteries to the Australian military.
The manufacturing facility will not initially produce batteries for the mass market, but the aim is to create thousands of jobs in the northeast of England.

Skeleton Technologies develops and produces its own patented raw material called Curved Graphene, which allows their products to reach high levels of performance without relying on toxic metals.
The funding will be used to accelerate product development and expand manufacturing. Siemens will also partner with Skeleton to automate and digitize their upcoming factory in Germany.

DENSO and Mitsubishi Electric will invest a total of $1 billion in Coherent Corp.'s Silicon Carbide semiconductor business. Long-term supply arrangements will be made with DENSO and Mitsubishi Electric for silicon carbide substrates and epitaxial wafers.
Market estimates project the SiC total addressable market to grow from $3 billion in 2022 to $21 billion in 2030.
?? European Investment Bank with support from InvestEU invests €450 million in the construction of AESC electric battery gigafactory in Douai
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is investing €450 million in the construction of an #electricbattery #gigafactory in Douai, France.
The gigafactory will produce 9 GWh of batteries to power 200,000 electric vehicles annually starting in 2025. It is part of the EIB's strategy to support the transition to a decarbonized industry in Europe.

Idemitsu and Toyota have entered into an agreement to collaborate on the development of mass production technology for all-solid-state batteries for #battery #electricvehicles (#BEVs) to achieve successful commercialization by 2027-28.
The collaboration will focus on sulfide solid electrolytes, which are promising for achieving high capacity and output for BEVs.

American Battery Technology Company (#ABTC), an integrated critical #batterymaterials company, announces the start of operations at its commercial-scale, #lithiumionbattery #recycling facility in Nevada, located at the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center.
The facility has the capacity to process over 20,000 metric tonnes of battery feedstock materials per year. The initial phase will produce recycled materials including copper, aluminum, steel, a lithium intermediate, and a black mass intermediate material.
