Battersea Power Station has received the prestigious RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award, adding to its long list of accolades. On this occasion, we are pleased to present the monograph dedicated to this iconic building.
Battersea Power Station, a symbol of British industrial architecture, is located on the south bank of the Thames. Originally designed in 1933 by Sir Gilbert Scott, it was the first in a series of coal-fired power stations in England. Decommissioned in 1983, the building fell into ruin but retained its charm and historical-artistic value, earning a Grade II* listing to mark and celebrate its special architectural and historic interest. It is the largest brick building in Europe and one of the most significant remaining examples of Art Deco architecture.
After years of neglect, Battersea Power Station has been brought back to life following the trend of other famous post-industrial repurposing, such as the Gare d'Orsay in Paris, the Lingotto in Turin, and the Tate Modern.

The most significant part of our package consists of the residential area located on the upper floors, above the former Boiler House, where a series of villas, apartments, and penthouses overlook a large rooftop garden, the "garden square." Additional apartments are situated in the two lateral wings, the two Switch Houses, West and East, totalling about 20,000 square meters of bespoke fa?ades. These include structural silicone unitised facades integrated with operable vents, insulated double glazed toggle systems, ventilated facades in German Jura stone with concealed under-cut system, structural doors and glazed balustrades.
Focchi Group has designed high-performance solutions to meet the architectural intent within a unique historical context. The complex fa?ades engineering began with Switch House West, followed by Switch House East, and culminated with the Boiler House, the most representative building.
