The Bathsheba Issue

Greetings in The Mighty Name of Jesus, The Christ!!!

“2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to look upon. 3 And David sent and enquired after the woman. And [one] said, [Is] not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite? 4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house. 5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I [am] with child.”

2 Samuel 11:2-5

We will Walk through this Sin of David and the Consequences of it. We need to Understand that there is a Consequence for Sin and for us The Blood Bought have been given Grace, but let not Grace be abused or an excuse to Sin.

We see that David’s first mistake was “he saw…” and “enquired” which means that David Desired to have. As soon as David “saw” he should have Turn Away but he took the next step “I Want, I Desire To Have”. The Deeper Understanding of this is David was Un-content, Unsatisfied with what he had and instead of Seeking The Father, he sought to Please Himself…Without The Father. In this first step that David has taken, he also Disobeyed The Father’s Holy Word, that is dealing with Coveting, which is the Desire of Wanting something that another possesses.

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's.”

Exodus 20:17

This also shows David’s Lack Of Faith in The Father whom he served. If David would have Sought After The Father for a Wife, The Father would have Guided Him To Fulfillment.

“1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.”

Hebrews 11:1-2

David had a Second Chance here to Turn Away and that is when a Servant said that Bathsheba was The Wife of another, but David’s Desire grew more and he pressed on. Then David’s next act, The Fulfillment Of Sin. David commits Adultery!?At this point it is a One Night Stand, a One Time Sin, a One Time Desire, a One Time Action… We also must Understand that David Used His Position to gain His Desire. David is King, the King Orders and it is done without question, regardless of any Morals.

Now David has a very serious problem, Bathsheba is Pregnant. So many dip their hands into Sin not even thinking of any Consequences that may follow Our Actions, Our Words, but are more concerned about The Now.

“And he wrote?in the letter,?saying,?Set?ye Uriah?in the forefront?of the hottest?battle,?and retire?ye from him,?that he may be smitten,?and die.”

2 Samuel 11:15

This next Act of David was to Remove Obstacles that stood in His Way, to Obtain His Desire. David was Willing to Do or Say whatever it took for him to Get His Fleshly Desire. David sends an Incent Man To His Death! How many of you have Obtained Your Desires by Removing those things that stood in Your Way? This means by; Divorce, Adultery, Promotions, Evictions, Putting Parents In Nursing Homes, Children To Raise Themselves and the list goes on. Many Seek Their Fleshly Desires BEFORE They Seek Jesus For THE ANSWER!

“Thou shalt not kill.”

Exodus 20:13

Meaning; having a Desire To Murder Without Cause.

But in today’s Society, much like in David’s, in one sense, many Do NOT Care how they get what they want, nor do they Care about the Consequences. How many of you who are Ministering in some fashion have gone to those who Were Your Covering, The Pastor or Someone else and made a Plea for some Desire and because of Impatience or Not Obtaining, YOU Decided to Cut those Ties, Moving On to get what You Desired, having no idea to the Consequences Of Your Actions nor did YOU Seek Jesus, nor Did YOU Care?

“26 And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband. 27 And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.”

2 Samuel 11:26-27

Bathsheba Loved her husband, even thou she committed Adultery At David’s Desire. She mourned for his Death in what fashion the time of morning was to be.

But, now David knowing that the Time Of Mourning was completed, he Obtained His Desire, Displeasing The Father in what occurred.

See and Understand this, The Father ALLOWED David to do all these things and never stopped him from doing them. We need to Understand that The Godhead, that is, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit will ALLOW us to DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT, it is The Free Will Act.

This next part of Scriptures are lengthy, but are needed to Understand The Consequences Of Sin.

“1 And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor. 2 The rich [man] had exceeding many flocks and herds: 3 But the poor [man] had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter. 4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him. 5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, [As] the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this [thing] shall surely die: 6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity. 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou [art] the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul; 8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if [that had been] too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things. 9 Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife [to be] thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. 11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give [them] unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. 12 For thou didst [it] secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.”

2 Samuel 12:1-12

There are a few things that we need to Understand here, first we must Understand that Jesus is Not Blind To OUR ACTIONS or WORDS, He knows them and what has led us to the End Results. The Father knew everything that David had done.

Another thing is that The Father told David through Nathan, again, The Father TOLD David THROUGH Nathan, so why is this important, because David could NOT Hear The Father because Sin Separated Him From The Father. One of The Consequences is that Sin Brings Separation Between Us and Jesus. There is a remedy which we will get to in a moment. But Understand this, that Jesus will Send Others to give us a Message when we Can NOT Hear Jesus because of Sin. Now this is very important in the fact that Jesus will reach out to Correct what has taken place and when this happens we need to be aware that Judgment Is At Hand. Whether we answer for Our Sin here and now, or at The Judgment Seat, an Answer must be given, and a Price Must Be Paid. Praise Jesus, when we Fall we can find Grace In Our Repentance!

Another thing is The Father said that all David had to do was Ask, Trust and Receive. Verses 7 & 8 shows us this, that The Father Reminds David all that He had already done for him and that there was nothing that David Desired that The Father would not have given him. How many of us Forget to even Ask Jesus For Our Desires, Our Needs and how many us After Asking, don’t really Believe, Having Faith, that it will even be done, and how many of us do Not Wait Upon The Lord to Receive?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 11:1

“But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6

David thought he could Conceal what he had done in His Heart that played out In his Actions. David thought he could Manipulate The Truth by His Actions and Words, but no matter how many lies, how many times The Truth is Manipulated The Father knew. The same is for us today, no matter how many Lies We Tell or how many times that We Manipulate The Truth, Jesus Knows The Real Truth Of The Matter.

The Consequences Of Sin… The Father told David through Nathan, that David will always be at war, that as long as he lives he will not find peace from it. The second thing that The Father said through Nathan is that even though you deserve death, I, The Father, will not kill you, but Your Consequence For Sin, Your Payment For Sin, is I will take Your Child for Your Sin.

“13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. 14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also [that is] born unto thee shall surely die. 15 And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick. 16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.”

2 Samuel 12:13-16

A Point Of Understand here, no matter how much David Pleaded with The Father, he could Not Change The Outcome Of His Sinful Actions. We think that we can just Sin, ask for Forgiveness and all is well, but that is far from The Truth. There are Consequences For Our Actions. An Example, a person may Rob, Kill, Cheat or whatever and end up in prison and while in prison that person may come to The Saving Grace Of Jesus and be Forgiven, Praise Jesus, but they may still and probably will remain in prison, even unto death. The person mentioned is still paying for what they have done.

Brothers and Sisters, we need to Understand that because Jesus is Our Savior does not mean that we are Not Accountable For Our Sins, and Answer still have to be given for it. It is a Law that The Father has put into place since Adam that will never change.

Now, also Understand about Grace, we may not receive what we deserve for our sin, in other words, like David, The Father did not Kill David, but another payment was made, in Tyranny and Loss. We may have to Live Out The Consequence in other ways that can come in any fashion.

Too many of you Live The Bathsheba Issue, too many of you Wink at Sin, thinking there are No Consequences For That Sin, and when Disasters come you wonder why and then get mad at Jesus saying it is His Fault, when it was Your Sin that caused it!

“Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

James 1:15

Repent!!!

Amen and Amen!!!
