Bathshack’s big day out at the Empire!

After another successful year of business – including lots of new employees and the launch of some exciting new in-house initiatives – the entire Bathshack team gathered for a special company day out at the Belfast Empire Music Hall on September 12.

Kicking off the afternoon, was our Managing Director, Peter Dunlop, who gave a brief company overview and highlighted some of our key achievements over the past year. This included hiring 51 new team members since May 2022 – in roles across departments such as warehouse, customer service, e-Commerce and catalogue. We also saw staff hired within our marketing, telesales, dispatch, showrooms and finance departments, with new drivers and employees working in trade, clearance, maintenance and Whirlpool also brought on board.?

“We’re a family-run business and our employees and customers are at the heart of what we’re about, so it’s important to us to have days like this to celebrate our team and share our achievements,” said Peter. “It was great to see everyone from across the company come together to celebrate our joint successes and have a chance to mingle, as well as to hear about what other departments have been up to.The company day also gave everyone a chance to relax and have some fun, as we followed our official catch-up with pizza and then enjoyed the Empire’s comedy night. It was a great day all-round!”

Staff from across our departments subsequently took to the famous Empire stage during the afternoon to share their news, which included the launch of an innovative new retail management and customer service software to further improve and streamline our service delivery. Another key initiative launched by our Marketing and Ecommerce Manager Lorraine Kelly is our new bathroom planner – a free online tool which customers can use to build their very own bathroom design. The software, powered by AR brand Fixtuur, allows customers to create a 3D image of their bathroom, which they can then populate with Bathshack bathroom and tile products, before viewing it in 360°.

Having shipped more than 200,000 items in the past 12 months alone, we’ve invested in additional warehouse space to accommodate this growth, increasing this from 40,000sq ft to 100,000sq ft. We’ve also grown our fleet of vehicles from 20 to 30, so there’s been lots going on. New health and safety initiatives, along with waste reduction and improved customer experience processes, have also been rolled out in recent months.

As well as sharing our company news, however, we also heard from Women’s Aid Federation NI – our chosen charity for 2023, with Karen Devlin from the domestic abuse charity giving an overview of their work. A light-hearted mini duck hunt followed this, with prizes for the winning team, while everyone also voted to crown ‘The Mightiest Duck’ from eight employees who scooped the most nominations in our ‘Mighty Duck’/employee of the month award.

“The day went really smoothly,” said our People Partner, Salli Hunt. “We’re delighted that so many of our employees were able to present on behalf of their departments and that we were able to launch a number of new initiatives. We feel that the meeting was well received. “Watching everyone take part in the mini duck hunt was a real highlight for me! We also enjoyed a lot of mingling, chit-chatting and comedy in the evening event and saw some excellent comedians at the wonderful famous Belfast Empire Music Hall venue.” ?

Feedback from the day: “The mix of written and video content was useful. It was interesting to find out about what other departments are doing. Presentation lengths were perfect to get the messages across and long enough to hold attention. Bringing the charity in was fantastic, as well.”

“I thought everything was 'en point'. Nothing was drawn-out or overdone and the mini break for the duck hunt was a good idea for a break to keep everyone's attention for the final presentation.”
