We all know how important it is to take some time out when we are feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
But what if you don’t have time to take a proper break? After all, life has its own timetable sometimes and finding space for a proper break can seem impossible!
Here is a great tip to help you cope with those really stressful situations, when you need to be on your game but time is not on your side.
Take a couple of minutes to pop to the bathroom. Run cold water over your hands and wrists for a few moments.
If possible, also splash your face with cold water.
Focus on the feeling of the water cooling your skin, and the sound of the water splashing into the sink.
The change in temperature will calm the nervous system.
Then take three calming breaths, longer on the exhale (breathe in for a count of 3 and out for a count of 5).
You’ll feel more relaxed, focussed and grounded, and ready to tackle that challenge!
