Bath Half Marathon
From the start off I'm not the type to try and turn LinkedIn into Facebook or whatever, I merely want to raise the profile of the charity for which I am a Trustee.
So, yep its that time of year again, everyone says something like I'm not drinking, I'll eat less or even I'll start running to lose some weight.
I enjoy running and want to combine it with raising some much-needed money and awareness for a charity with which I am involved. FirstLight Trust specifically focuses on those who have slipped through the net, those who may have sought help in the past and for any number of reasons have been passed by. I wouldn't suggest it's quite the lottery but some undoubtedly get more support than others, it might be that some injuries are easily seen and some less so.
Having said all that I do acknowledge that people are starting to realize that people who suffer with mental illness are not as rare as once realised, the inability to compute a particular experience is not as rare as we might like to think and, in some small way, FLT tries to be the support that is needed and has made some considerable inroads over the last few years.
I am proud to say I am a Trustee of FirstLight Trust, I know all too well the anguish of loss and have personally experienced the loss of close friends at home and abroad.
As well as being there when required I want to push myself by undergoing a number of physical challenges in 2017, first off is the 2017 Bath Half Marathon and I will aim to do this in less than 1-hour 30-minutes, or at least I will try.
Money is always tight in January and I know raising money for charity is becoming more difficult but issues such as PTSD are real and more than likely not going away anytime soon.
If you're in a position to donate then please do, you can do so by texting FLTR 73 to 70070 with your chosen donation £1,3,5,10 or £20 alternatively donate online using the link.
£1000 is a huge amount, perhaps too much to raise given the current state of finances but I know I can't do it alone so please share as far and wide as you would like and of course thank you to all those who choose support.
