Import and Export of Rice over the world

Asia is the region where more than 90% of the world's rice is produced, mostly in China, India, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, with minor amounts being produced in Japan, Pakistan, and many Southeast Asian nations. Additionally, there are areas of Europe, North and South America, and Australia where rice is grown. More than 150 nations get rice exports from India.

India has clinched second position on the list of rice exporting countries throughout the world despite fierce competition from other countries. The Indian government has laid down liberal export-import trade laws to avoid the complexities and nuances of international commerce. In addition, the government drastically reduced the price of rice for the international market to increase export rates.

?The 134th most traded goods in the world was rice, accounting for 0.16 percent of global commerce. The majority of the countries in Mexico, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Northeast Asia, and the Middle East are the destinations for the majority of the United States' annual rice exports, with minor amounts going to Canada, the European Union (EU), and Sub-Saharan Africa. Sub-Saharan Africa is the region that imports the most rice globally, yet most of its imports come from cheap Asian exporters. The second-largest global market for rice imports is in the Middle East, where Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia are the top three consumers. The humid climate of Southern Asia makes it the best place to grow rice. This region is where most of the rice is grown. 4 of the top 5 countries that export rice are located in Southern Asia as a result. With shipments totaling $19.6 billion, the four Asian rice exporting nations of India, Thailand, Pakistan, and Vietnam alongwith United States of America produced over three-quarters (74.2%) of the worldwide value of rice exports in 2021. Europe contributed 8.6% of the total exports, followed by North America at 7.6% and Latin America, excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, at 5.3 percent.
