Basketball Experience
1. To most basketball is just a beautiful game but to me it is so much more. Playing basketball for over so many years has taught me a lot about life and myself. Whether there is a crowd of individuals watching me or I am the only one in the yoga centre, once I step on to the court my brain becomes free. There is something good about an empty court, headphones in my ears, and the ball in my hands that makes me like I’m right at sweet home. I met few of my closest buds for the first time on the basketball court. My coaches did not just teach me skills on the court but they also acted as mother figures in my life. Playing basketball has taught me few of my hugest life lessons. The basketball court has been my second sweet home. Not because I spend countless hours there but as it offers me a chance to express myself and escape from reality all while being with individuals I consider family. I first started playing basketball when I was just three years old. My father signed me up to play in the league. The age cut off for the league was August 1st. My birthday was not until August 17th so my father had to lie to get me onto a team. He said that I was born on January 17th while he was signing me up for the league. While I do not have very realistic memories of playing for the foremost time, I do know that is something I wanted to try ever since my older sister started playing. My sister, Mini, is three years older than me. I have always looked up to her and still do this day.
2. In my free time, I enjoy activities but I have come to the conclusion that basketball is my favourite pastime. Watching the sport on TV is just as enjoyable as playing it. Strangely, basketball has always seemed to fill my life in one way or another. Sometimes, I feel like i am in heaven.
I was born to live, dream, and even sleep thinking about basketball. Basketball is such an amazing sport and I cannot understand living in a world in which the sport did not exist. Nonetheless, basketball has influenced my life in such a phenomenally positive manner and definitely has shaped me into the individual that is really cool.
When I was about the age of 8 years old, I started playing basketball for the city in which I resided. My parents had tried swimming, t-ball, soccer, and even badminton but I was not interested at all. Basketball captured my real time heart. I loved learning the offensive and defensive plays. When I played offense and actually had the ball while drip down the court, I became unstoppable and no one could touch me. Adrenaline set in and no one could stand in my way. Of course I was on cloud nine when I shot a basket and actually made it. My parents were always pretty much supportive and cheered for my every new move.
3. I was influenced to play basketball by a junior high teacher when I was in 8th grade. Mrs. Miley asked me every early sunshine before school if I was going to play basketball, some days I would just say I wasn't certain, but then as I thought about try out a new sport, my answers began becoming, "Heck yeah!"
In 8th grade, basketball was this unknown sport that I didn't really understand much about. I had played these game video games, but never the real game. I was quite excited, but really nervous to play. I got through 7th grade year, and 5th grade began. When I walked into school on the foremost day, I didn't see Mrs. Miley. I thought maybe she was just quite late. But when I asked individuals around me where she was, they told me she had moved away to teach at a different level school.
I was pretty upset. I scored the last goal in my first ever basketball game! Everyone cheered and I was in even more surprise than before. After that, I was way more confident in how I played, as I knew I could do it.
The A team was next. I was ready to play some other game. But, Mrs. Hannah never put me in. I was really upset when that occurred, after that game; I wasn't on a game anymore. At the end of that full season, I felt like I did alright.
7th grade year came along, and I began the year running cross country with Mrs. Hannah. At the end of cross country, I was pretty excited to finally play the game basketball again. At the beginning of practice, the day before our first game, Mrs. Hannah lined everybody up on the base line, she told three of us to change our reversible practice to green, and everyone else to turn theirs to pink.
4. The first time I learned basketball was when I am at the 7th grade when my science teacher registered me in a basketball winter camp. I used to be a shy and pretty chik but since joining the winter camp I began to socialize and have buds. After five months of learning basketball, I started to like it. Then, I began playing basketball in high school as chunk of my school team and I’ve been playing ever since. It began out as just an activity, and then became a hobby that’s something nice to do but later on; I found that I really love basketball. My family and my friends were amazed when they understand I could really play basketball.
We won the first, second, and third game until we reached the finals. We always met during the school league but we always lost to them as they are just ahead on us in strength, speed, and power. The day of the final match came. Every step I took the court makes me pretty nervous. My teammates were all walking silently, mentally preparing ourselves for what was about to occur. As we reached the venue and took our initial steps inside, I do hear the excitement from the crowd. After we are done with warming up, Gaurav, our coach gave a speech to play as we used to and try not to be really nervous. The speech really didn’t help at all. So we prayed and the game began and we played nervously. My captain, Miley cyrus drib down the court, looked to pass, and took the shot but missed it.
