Basilio Saleri and Industrie Saleri Italo S.p.A. for a glocal history in the blender of “The machine that changed the world”

Following the memory of Basilio Saleri in the words of Luciano Pilotti , Professor of Political Science and Food Science, University of Milan:?

"Basilio Saleri, President of Industrie Saleri Italo S.p.A. in Lumezzane, has left us prematurely, too early. He leaves us an entrepreneur who led and renewed one of Lumezzane's great historical factories and one of its most respected brands and who governed its change over the last 120 years in its three great evolutionary phases.

He inherited a company from his grandfather Italo and then from his father Francesco and uncle Sergio closely interconnected (through water pumps for cars) with the automotive of endothermic engines to transit it in the last 20 years in the chase towards the electric in historical partnerships with global brands including BMW, DAIMLER, AUDI, LAMBORGHINI, FERRARI, GM, Hyundai, as on the difficult and open aftermarket yet now 'shared' with competitors. A delicate and complex strategic transition on markets undergoing epochal transformation not without difficulty in the past decade.

Overcoming even this typical test of 'global techno-generational leaps' by tying the family's destiny (integrating and guiding it with authority and vision) to an opening to external partners with new managerial skills, new ideas and fresh financial resources to 'dance' on the fractures of international markets.

A Lumezzane history, an Italian history and a global history that come together virtuously redesigning the very perimeters of Brescia's component specialisations within the framework of the European automotive industry and its global supply chains.?Engaging major markets between West and East with investments in China, Mexico, India and Germany with robust R&D injections.

A courageous and generous man with a global strategic horizon who knew how to combine vision with great humanity fuelled by a very strong bond with his family and his beloved sister Giovanna, innervated with his vocational territory and native of the cohesive Valgobbia community. He leaves behind an entrepreneurial and human legacy that is an example for all, with non-trivial Olivettian tones, albeit declined by the changing harshness of a valley undergoing glocal transformation.?

It is now up to his children and grandchildren to follow and enhance in the context of a highly complex world between process re-engineering, environmental sustainability and responsibility, maintaining that global outlook that Basilio Saleri impressed on the group as an irreversible mark of an epochal transition that Womack, Roos and Jones had anticipated in 1990 with 'The Machine that Changed the World'."
