Liquefied Natural Gas or Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to -259°F (–162° C), changing it from a gas into a liquid, that is 600 times its original volume.
This process is known as liquefaction, which allows it to be shipped safely and efficiently.
Natural gas is 95% methane, which is actually the cleanest fossil fuel.
There are a number of other gases that are separated from the raw natural gas before chilling, including propane, butane (n-butane) and isobutane (i-butane), as well as mixtures of these gases and are also referred to as natural gas liquids – NGL.
Natural gas is 95% methane, which is actually the cleanest fossil fuel. The combustion of natural gas primarily emits water vapour and small amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2).
