Basics of Pre-Employment Background checks

Background checks, on a potential employee aren't a sign of distrust or an encroachment of privacy; they are a consequential move in finding the best employees and protecting your organization from the perils that come with irresponsible or disloyal employees. An employee background check is a review of a person’s commercial, criminal, employment, and/or financial records. Pre-employment background checks are rewarding because they help employers analyze an applicant's history based on information that doesn't surface on a resume or in an interview. Pre-employment background check is therefore most important means to assess the suitability of the candidates for a job, generally the extent and types of the background verification criteria is defined by the position offered, the seniority and the influence of the position on personnel and material information that is likely to be vested with the person.

Address verification

Criminal checks 

Education verification

Employment verification

Reference checks

Social Media trails

Besides being indicative of certain attributes such as the attitude and character of potential employees. Background checks can also point out subtler attributes. A person who has a history of job hopping may be less suited to a long-term position than a person who has shown more of a commitment to previous employers. Such factors can make the difference between an abysmal employee and a great one.

Often some factors of a potential employee’s capabilities might amaze you. A background check might reveal a personality trait or unique response to a situation that could be a real asset to your team, despite the fact it isn't highlighted in the applicant's resume.
