Basic Understanding of Oval/Elliptical shape conduct

At high operating voltage of 30/33 KV , the radius of edges of sector shape could develop a higher stress voltage. To tackle this limitation elliptical/oval conductor were used. This also reduces diameter and raw material consumption to a large extent enhancing financial benefit.

The shape of ellipse is shown , It is consist of horizontal line (Major axis) and vertical line (Minor axis). The point where major and minor axis meets is the center of the ellipse. The distance of major axis is 2a and minor axis is 2b. The distance from point "P" to major axis is "a". The calculation of derivation of ellipse equation is shown in the working area.
