Basic of Sealing : Perspective of a student of #Beverage&Packaging.

The main functions of an effective Sealing in a #BeveragePackaging is :

1. To contain the product.
2. To prevent leakages.
3. To protect the contents of the Package.
4. To retain the original flavor & nutritional elements of the beverage/food.
5. And to ensure a definite self-life of the product.

If we look into the history, even when the #caps and #closures were not available, humans used to seal their food grains containers with clay. Later on, when Glass containers becomes available; in remote villages, people used to seal their glass containers/bottles with a corncob (central part of corn fruit after removing kernel/corn-seeds). This indicates towards following basics of Sealing:

• Sealing is the outcome of two mating surfaces.
• If one surface is harder; then other has to be soft, in order to have an effective sealing.

Above fact is reflected in all modern days sealing devices - be it rubber stoppers, or #MetalCaps, or pre-threaded #PlasticClosures applied on a #NeckFinish of different types of #containers/ #bottles......
