Basic Hygiene Ethics for Men if you are in Sales!

I am writing this article purely based on my 12 years of sales experience in the real estate industry. There is always a saying " First Impression is Your Last Impression " and it so very well goes if you are in profession of sales. Sales is one of the most high paying and rewarding careers one can be recruited into. But every college student, entrepreneur or beginner thinks its one of the most challenging roles to take up. This Challenge is " Self Belief" or Lack of Confidence.

If you as an entrepreneur or a sales professional lacks confidence, I am going to share some of the basic hygiene practices that will boost your confidence. I always tell my team at Nexalty Group, its 30 % product knowledge in real estate and 70% is selling yourself being in the shoes of the customer.

God has created every individual beautiful. A lot of sales professionals I have come across, loose confidence by thinking that they are not good looking or beautiful to present in front of the customers. That is where the first step of self confidence is lost. Today I will share some of the basic hygiene tips which will boost your self confidence

CUT YOUR NAILS OR HAVE PREETY NAILS

I know this sounds absurd, but let me tell you this That the golden step to sales is you are be going to be signing a lot of deals and however advanced tech is, you will still be going to be using pen and paper in front of your customers. When you hold your pen, Your customers first eye impression is towards your little fingers, and just think if your nails are shabby or uncut, that's where the first impression is lost, So hence either file your nails properly, cut them and if you are a female then make sure the nails is pretty and attractive. Make this a part of the your routine. Tip to be added " if you have dry hands like me, then make sure you Moisturize them

Oral Hygiene and Mouth Wash

In sales, you will be either facing customers face to face or may be via telephone. It just not customers that you will across, you will be dealing with your team members, your vendors and your managers. Now if you are in sales, oral communications is a part of the game. Along with communication, what comes along is that natural smile. Hence the first thing in morning and at night before going to bed, make sure you really brush well and keep your mouth fresh. If possible always carry a small bottle of mouth wash or keep it handy in your office washroom. Trust Me if your breath is good, your self confidence is at Next Level. If you are a smoker, make sure you floss your teeth and clean your teeth by visiting a Dentist. If you keep traveling from meetings to meetings like me, then carry a sugar free gum if possible and after lunch or evening snacks make sure you rinse your mouth properly with water or mouthwash. So now SMILE WITH CONFIDENCE

SMELL GOOD ALWAYS

It is as important as showering. I suggest that if you are in business of sales, make sure you smell good. Trust Me Friends, this is equally important. Invest in a good perfume, I don't say your full body should smell of a very strong perfume, but spraying your perfume right and making sure your armpits are deodrized properly is a very basic hygine that will ensure you are confident and fresh always. Research on your skin, every skin is different and make sure which perfume suits you well. I always sujjest if you have meetings through out the day wear a strong perfume which smells really good and if you are more of a office person wear a citry light perfume. Tips on Perfume. SPRAY IT RIGHT " its the 1-2-3 formula. Spray one near your ears, Spray Behind Your Neck and Spray on the sides of your shirt or dress collar. This always leave a long lasting impression, so from this month pay check if you dont have a good perfume in your wadrobe, invest in a good perfume that suits your skin.

Hair and Facial Grooming Ethics

This varies from individual to individual. Now a person like me with No Hair, is still confident. You know how " I make sure i trim my facial hair properly and make sure my face is always fresh and mosturized. I have seen a lot of begniners in sales who keep their Hair Raw and Shabby, I know it sounds very kiddish, but trust me always ensure you groom your hair properly. If you have thin hair or no Hair on your head, make sure you keep your facial properly properly trimmed which will suit your face structure. Tips: Wash your face during the day, which will make you feel fresh through out the day. A simple cold water face wash re-energises you and your face leaving a glow on your face to create that perfect impression near your customers.


Clean Socks and Clean Shoes.

I know this is very subjective, but its equally very very important. Being in India, We value traditions. And in Some office traditions, still i have to remove my shoes and enter the clients office. Or May be i am visting a clients home to give a presentation, I still need to remove my shoes and enter the clients home. Hence I always suggest please wear a clean socks everyday and also make sure your shoes is very clean. Tips: Try wearing a cotton socks, so it keeps your feet feeling fresh and if you have a formal shoe carry a pair of Shoe Shine Polish or Shinex in your bag and make sure as your shoes gets dirty, polish them.
