Barry Pillans succeeds Colin Vaughan as Territory Senior Partner of PwC Gibraltar

We are delighted to announce that Barry Pillans was elected Territory Senior Partner for PwC Gibraltar, which became effective from 1 July 2024.?

Barry joined the assurance practice of the Gibraltar firm in 2004, prior to which he worked at PwC in Poland and Oman. During his time at the firm he has held numerous key leadership roles including Assurance Leader, Gaming Leader and Ethics Leader. During his time as Human Capital Leader he oversaw significant advances in the Empowered Flexibility working model that we currently offer our employees.?

He succeeds Colin Vaughan who has served as the firm’s Territory Senior Partner for almost 20 years, during which the firm has experienced significant growth, transformation and diversification. Under his leadership, the firm has achieved significant milestones, including tripling our staff contingent to over 100 employees and relocating the firm to our new offices at 327 Main Street. Colin will continue to serve as a Partner of the firm, delivering services to his diverse portfolio of clients.?

Barry joined our firm as a Senior Manager just before I started my term as Territory Senior Partner. Amongst his many skills, he brought an outstanding ability as a trainer which served to keep our audit service staff at a leading edge of expertise for the benefit of our client and firm alike. Following his subsequent promotion to partner I was more than pleased to pass on my role as Territory Assurance Leader to him and similarly I am now confidently passing on the role of Territory Senior Partner. Barry has a deep understanding of our business, our markets and the challenges our clients face. As part of my management board, I have seen the creativity and sound judgment he brings to complex situations, and the importance he places on the firm’s values. The partners have made the right choice in the leader for PwC’s next chapter.?

About Barry?

Barry joined the assurance practice of the Gibraltar firm in 2004 and has been a Partner since 2010. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having graduated from Aberdeen University with an M.A. Honours in economic science. Prior to joining the Gibraltar office, Barry worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Poland and Oman where he was involved in the statutory audits of a broad portfolio of clients in both the Government and the private sectors, specialising in financial service clients, in particular Banking and Capital Markets.?

He has thorough knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and extensive experience in due diligence and financial modelling assignments.?

Barry lives in Gibraltar with his wife of 30 years and three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and is a keen golfer and skier.?
