Barrish Pelham on Team Updating 66-Year-Old Greer Elementary!

First constructed in 1952, Greer Elementary School in San Juan USD was in desperate need of being brought into the 21stcentury.  The task for the design-build team of Otto Construction, Nacht & Lewis, and Barrish Pelham was considerable.  Students needed to be in chairs by September 2019, and construction needed to take place while school was still in session.  

To save on both schedule and budget, the team proposed renovating two existing buildings with 12 classrooms to match the new construction of three new classroom buildings, an administration building and a multi-purpose room.  Working with Otto Construction on the best structural system to accommodate the budget and compressed construction schedule, BP designed using both wood and steel frames because they could be erected quickly.  Students are eagerly awaiting their new campus with the groundbreaking ceremony just held June 1st!
