Barrier Gates Installed for Public Parking at Loyola in Maywood

Previously we wrote about the employee entrance to lot A at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. Then this past November we wrote “Parking Access Control At Loyola Parking Deck A Staff Entry”. A year ago November we also told you about “Pay On Foot Parking Lot Terminals | Loyola University Deck A”. This article described pay on foot terminals used by public guests using this parking lot.

To accommodate public patrons, Deck A has two entrances. (Pictured above showing the main public entry with dual entry lanes.) The right lane is solely an automated entry lane and the left lane is attended by a guard (when on duty). The picture to the left shows a second access point that is strictly automated.

Drivers enter the garage and pull up near the entry terminal where they receive a parking ticket. After receiving the ticket, the barrier gate opens and allows the vehicle to access. A vehicle detection loop senses the car has passed beyond the gate and signals the barrier to close. And the system gets ready for the next vehicle.

This is just a portion of the extensive WPS Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) ECI installed in 2019 for this Loyola campus. As previously described, it also includes exit terminals and pay on foot terminals. ECI did not furnish the yellow bollards protecting the equipment from potential damage from cars or the guard house.
