Is BARD the Next Big Thing?

Google established itself as a leading search engine. In fact, it was so famous that the brand turned into a verb. How? Well, I am sure that most of you use the phrase “I’ll just ‘google’ it” instead of “I’ll just run a search for it”.?

It was all going well until ChatGPT entered the chat (pun intended) and became Google’s biggest competitor. Where Google crawls sites and gives you answers with the reference website, ChatGPT on the other hand, gives direct answers in a conversational manner. I mean, who wouldn’t prefer ChatGPT over Google, right?

Over the past two months, people have been storming their LinkedIn profiles with blogs about how ChatGPT is a better alternative to Google’s basic search engine. The number of comparisons kept growing and ChatGPT slowly took its spot in the limelight.?

Now, it is very surprising that Google stayed silent. Was this the silence of defeat or the calm before the storm? I am sure we can expect a big comeback from this tech giant, right? Well, they have definitely stood up to our expectations in terms of an answer.?

Google rolled out its own AI chatbot that will work like ChatGPT but even better! Now, while we know that Bard AI is not live for everyone as yet, we have some comparisons based on our speculations:?

• ChatGPT is working on GPT3 whereas Bard is focusing on the LaMDA language model. AI chatbots are trained using language models using probability and statistics. Where the two chatbots get their knowledge from is a significant difference.

• Though both Bard and Chat GPT are language-based conversational AI models, there are key differences in their design and intended use. Bard gets its information directly from the Internet, unlike ChatGPT, which gets it from the data it was trained on.

• Bard will use material that is already available online, including data and sources. Bard will have access to the most recent date and will be able to deliver more up-to-current information, whereas Chat GPT's knowledge is restricted to the events through 2021.

• Bard will have access to a wealth of data and be integrated with Google's search engine, providing it an advantage over Chat GPT, which is supported by Microsoft.

Now, while this seems very impressive, it is yet to be decided how effective this step will be.

Will BARD be a helpful resource to people all around the world or is it just a hasty answer to ChatGPT’s rising popularity?
