Barbenheimer the Internet phenomenon: But which is the better movie?

Feminist vs Cinephile

Greta Gerwig's Barbie is a massive juggernaut, It has managed to pull over a billion dollars and it has done that with an impressive marketing campaign and very strong feminist views in the movie. Which has resonated with the female audience. The movie does play on that throughout the entire movie and makes you think about today's world we live in. The concept of the movie is quite unique, a bit borrowed from the Lego Movie but It works even how absurd it is. One of the highlights of the movie is Ryan Gosling's song performance I'm Just Ken. That scene alone has created his own fanbase and the result of that could be a solo Ken movie in the future.

Oppenheimer is a pure cinematic experience, Made for the big screen and targeted at the purest of cinema lovers, The Cinephiles. Christopher Nolan brings his A-game with hardly any CGI again in the entire movie. The film plays as a political thriller, with the viewer anxiously waiting to see what happens next. The film is a 3-hour experience with outstanding visuals, cinematography, and outstanding performances from Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Junior. Oppenheimer has earned over 700 million at the box office.

Marketing

When it comes to Marketing, Both films gained massive marketing from memes and the audience due to both films coming out on the same day. That helped Oppenheimer more than Barbie though. Barbie had a massive ad campaign, They collab with everything they could and just made it pink. Also, their soundtrack helped as well, Dua Lipa's Dance the Night was everywhere and the rest of the soundtrack was released just before the movie release. Margot Robbie was in the spotlight for the marketing campaign, with her influence and Her rocking the iconic Barbie costumes in every premiere event was excellent. Barbie's marketing campaign will be studied in big universities in the years to come.

Barbie Movie Marketing Campaign Was One for the Ages

On the other hand, Oppenheimer didn't need to do much, they were getting all the right exposure and attention for the film due to Barbie and memes. People wanted to see both films on the same day which helped Oppenheimer a lot, Their ad campaign was quite generic, nothing over the top, and they had 2 trailers and a bunch of TV spots. The success of Barbienheimer really boosted the box office of Oppenheimer. Also, they are facing some marketing budget for that Oscar run.

Winner: Barbie

Reviews and Audience Rating

Looking at Rotten Tomatoes, Barbie was an impressive hold, It sits at a critic score of 88% and an audience score of 83% Which is a bit odd because the audience score is usually higher than the critics. The movie has been praised for its unique storyline, costumes, and set design.

Rotten Tomatoes Rating

Oppenheimer also has an amazing hold, It sits at a whopping 93% critics score and 91% audience score. I think the film's serious tone does really sit well with the audience and critics. Also how serious was the matter, dropping 2 bombs on Japan. People in general liked Oppenheimer more and also how accurate it is.

Box Office

Barbie has made an impressive 1.3 Billion Dollars at the box office, With a budget of 300 Million including Marketing. It's the biggest movie was the year and I think it can reach 1.4 as well. Compared that Oppenheimer made 777 million dollars on an estimated budget of 150 million dollars. It is quite clear Barbie was more successful.

Winner: Barbie

Oscar Chances

Every movie aspires to the pinnacle of recognition – the Academy Awards. Next year, Barbienheimer is primed for an Oscar appearance. Nominations are expected for Best Supporting Actor and Actress, led by Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. The film's unique story could earn a nod for Best Original Screenplay. Its exquisite Set and Costume Design might also catch the Academy's eye. Ryan Gosling's I'm Just Ken stands a good chance for Best Song, though the Best Picture nomination might just elude them.

Your possible Men's Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor

Oppenheimer on the other hand, embodies classic Oscar appeal. It's Christopher Nolan's time for the Best Director win. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr.'s performances make them strong contenders for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, with a potential win. The film's gripping narrative places it in the running for Best Picture. Its Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, and Cinematography are likely nominees. The well-crafted Adapted Screenplay adds to its odds for recognition.

Winner: Oppenheimer

Conclusion

Both movies are breathtaking in their own way, but which is the best movie? is the real question we ask ourselves. Barbie is a family-oriented movie, with feminist views and it resonates with many females. Oppenheimer is a history piece about an iconic and important figure in American history. For me, Oppenheimer is a better movie because it really makes you think about the atomic bomb and the potential danger it poses. Nolan has made a beautiful film that really delivers with important reality check.

Winner: Oppenheimer
