Barasingha?a breed from the deer/antler family which has more than 3 lines of horns on the head, and is popularly called barah (12) singha (horns).

The?Barasingha?was so proud of his 12 horns, that he used to see his own reflection in the lake each time he went to drink water and feel on top of the world.

He felt superior to the Lion as even the King of the Jungle didn’t have such beautiful horns.

One day while eating grass, he saw his legs and was so annoyed to see ugly looking & thin legs. Each time he looked at his feet, he would dream of having better looking feet.

One day in the deep jungle, while grazing, the?Barasingha?heard gunshot sounds and hunter dogs barking. He realized that there was danger nearby and that hunters were in the vicinity killing animals.

Barasingha?ran fast, jumped from one field to another and before he could know it, he had travelled far away in the bushes, from where the hunters were.

There were huge bushes where the deer had arrived. His horns got entangled in one of the dense bushes. The more he tried to untwine from the bush, the more and more he got entangled.

Finally?Barasingha?was unable to move. He could hear the noises of the hunter dogs slowly and steadily nearing up to him. The hunters saw the?Barasingha?caught in the bushes and couldn’t move at all and thus was easy prey.

The?Barasingha?realized that the very feet which he didn’t like and was craving for better looking feet, were saving him all this time from the hunters, and the 12 sing which he was so proud of, got him to this difficult situation.

We can draw an analogy to the various asset classes available for a client for investments & savings. The routine favorites: Property, Gold, MFs or FDs which many clients are routinely using.

Just run back your memories to the lockdown and Covid situations which entire India and the world faced.

Was Real estate easily sellable? Gold rates were at the bottom, stock markets were struggling.

Pension planning is very much like the?Barasingha’s feet.?People don’t like it initially (the trouble to save money during the earning years). But eventually that becomes a dependable caretaker which not only helps survive in difficult times, but also gives a steady fund flow for everyday needs.

The glamorous assets though normally useful, failed in testing times.

There is no social security for the private sector employees, business community or professionals. They need to create their own retiral corpus and fund flow plan.
