A scaffold and temporary roof covering have recently been erected for the start of a programme of phased conservation works at the Bar Convent, York.
The Bar Convent is England’s oldest living convent, founded in 1686 as a school for girls, part Grade I and part Grade II listed. It is currently home to members of the Congregation of Jesus Christ.
The works include the re-roofing to 23-25 Blossom Street, repairs to the external masonry and joinery, external decoration and general external repair works including repointing and lime rendering to 15-29 Blossom Street and part of All-Saints School.
The works are being phased on a five month basis by Croft Farm Construction and are anticipated to be completed by the end of August 2018.
