Hi fellow futurists -- something different this week.
For the top 3 items, we would point you (1) to the legal advancement of the SAFT project, see Token Economy and our OpEd on ICOs there, (2) Oracle's move into open banking and artificial intelligence, and (3) this list of Insurance companies that are now plugged into Amazon Alexa's conversational interface. But on to the main event:
We at Autonomous have been hard at work parsing Fintech, Innovation and Crypto themes, and applying them to financial incumbents in a robust, quantitative way. The results of that work are finally available.
- We graded each “Bankosaurus” on 18 different attributes encompassing both its current state of digitalization and its ability to transform itself in the future. The Nordic banks come out on top in having a future-proof model.
- We also develop a live Innovation Index aimed at identifying the banks most engaged with key Fintech themes, such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, roboadvice, neobanks and chatbots. We built the Index using a big data system that analyzed hundreds of thousands of media mentions of companies and themes. Global investment banks are quite engaged with innovation, with BBVA and Santander also coming up as leaders.
- We produce 51 standardized bank scorecards for each bank, and rank it versus peers. Compare at a glance JP Morgan vs Bank of America, Credit Suisse vs UBS or Citi vs Wells Fargo.
- We also rank banks relative to Big Tech and Fintech Startups, and find that they fall far behind when it comes to fintech exposure to companies outside their industry. Being first among the Bankosaurus still means extinction risk!
